Hairdressing Courses in Swindon: Start Your Journey with La Beauté Academy

Have you always wanted to become a hairdresser, but struggled to see how training could fit around your life?
Perhaps you’re considering a career change, returning to work after having children, or finally ready to explore something you’ve wanted to do for years. Starting again can feel daunting, especially when you’re unsure which course to choose.
At La Beauté Academy, we offer private hairdressing training in Swindon, with small groups, practical learning and support as you build your skills.
A practical route into hairdressing
Hairdressing is a creative, hands-on profession. It involves understanding hair, listening to clients and learning how to deliver a service with care and confidence.
Our Level 2 NVQ hairdressing programme is designed to help beginners develop these foundations. You’ll build your knowledge alongside practical skills, with opportunities to practise, receive feedback and work towards your assessments.
Training includes skills such as consultation, shampooing, conditioning, styling, cutting and colouring, alongside the safe working practices that underpin professional salon work.
You don’t need to arrive knowing everything. You need a willingness to learn, practise and keep improving.
Why choose a small-group hairdressing course?
Being new to something can make it difficult to put your hand up and ask a question. A smaller learning environment gives you more opportunities to speak with your educator, discuss what you’re finding difficult and get feedback on your work.
At La Beauté Academy, we want students to understand why they’re doing something, as well as how to do it.
That might mean talking through a sectioning pattern again, reviewing a consultation or breaking a technique into manageable steps. Confidence grows through understanding and practice.
Can you train around work and family life?
For many adults, the biggest barrier to retraining is finding the time.
Our Level 2 programme is structured around one academy training day each week, with additional salon shadowing, practice and study commitments. The planned course length is 12 months.
This offers a route for people who need to balance learning with other responsibilities. However, it’s important to understand the full weekly commitment before enrolling.
We’ll talk you through attendance, independent work and model requirements so you can decide whether the course fits your circumstances.
Experienced education in a salon environment
La Beauté Academy may be a newer training centre, but the experience behind it goes back much further.
Founder Carly McCarthy has been educating hairdressers and supporting learners through NVQ qualifications for nearly 15 years.
Her approach brings together technical teaching and an understanding of everyday salon work. Learning a technique is one part of becoming a hairdresser; developing communication, consistency and confidence with clients matters too.
How do assessments work?
Your qualification is built through completing the required practical assessments, theory work and units.
As your skills develop, you’ll work towards demonstrating them and gathering the evidence needed for your qualification. Your educator will explain what is required and help you understand your progress.
Students also have an active role in their learning. Attending regularly, completing work, arranging suitable models and being prepared for assessments all help you stay on track.
The 12-month schedule provides a framework, while qualification completion depends on meeting all the required standards.
Already trained but need a confidence boost?
You may already have a hairdressing qualification and still feel unsure about returning to a salon or offering particular services.
Alongside our qualification programmes, we offer shorter training options for hairdressers who want to refresh their skills or build confidence.
